Mock Test Preparation Guide

Learn how to plan mock tests, review mistakes, and use practice results to guide your revision.

Overview

This page is a preparation guide. To take a mock test, obtain a suitable paper or test from your chosen practice resource and check that its syllabus, duration, marks, and negative marking match the current examination pattern.

Before starting, decide whether you need topic practice, a sectional test, or a full paper. Topic practice can help while you are learning a concept; a timed full paper can help you practise selecting questions and managing the available time.

Attempt the paper under the conditions you want to practise. Set a timer, keep interruptions away, and record your own answers. After finishing, compare them with a reliable answer key and use the scoring rules for that particular examination.

Review wrong, skipped, and guessed answers separately. For each one, identify whether the difficulty was a missing concept, a calculation error, a misread instruction, or time pressure. Rework the question and note a specific action, such as revising percentages or practising a reading passage.

Set your next practice task from that review. For example, if several errors came from one arithmetic topic, revise that topic and attempt a small question set before taking another full paper. Read the preparation articles below for additional planning ideas.
