Track Your Preparation
Follow a practical method to record your mock scores, monitor accuracy, and identify topics that need more practice.
Overview
Use this guide to keep a preparation log in your own notebook or spreadsheet. For each practice paper, record the date, paper name, maximum marks, score, attempted questions, correct answers, and time taken.
Calculate accuracy as correct answers divided by attempted questions, multiplied by 100. For example, 30 correct answers out of 40 attempts gives 75% accuracy. Keep the score calculation separate, because marks also depend on the examination rules and any penalty for wrong answers.
Compare results from papers with a similar pattern, marking system, and difficulty. A higher score on an easier paper does not by itself show the same progress as an improvement on a comparable paper. Include a short note about conditions such as interruptions or an unfinished section.
Once a week, review your log and list the topics behind repeated errors. Choose two or three manageable tasks for the next week, such as revising a concept, solving a timed set, or reattempting previously incorrect questions.
Example log entry: Practice Paper A; 40 attempted; 30 correct; 10 incorrect; 60 minutes; accuracy 75%; next task: revise percentage calculations and reattempt five misread questions. Add your actual marks using the scoring rules for the paper you attempted.
Accuracy
In your log, divide correct answers by attempted questions and multiply by 100.
Time Taken
Record total time and note any section you could not complete.
Comparable Scores
Compare your recorded marks across papers with similar patterns and difficulty.
Mistake Notes
Write down repeated errors and a specific revision action for each topic.
